About Us
En Pointe Studios is a well renowned ballet school in Australia that has been operating for 20 years under the direction of Renee Grinsted. With a stellar reputation, we have trained hundreds of young students preparing them for prestigious dance institutions worldwide. Graduates have danced with the Australian Ballet School, Birmingham Royal Ballet School UK, Joffrey Ballet School NYC, San Francisco Ballet School, and many more.

Renee began her ballet training at the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet until she was fifteen, when she was accepted into the Australian Ballet School, where she undertook full-time dance training. She completed her academic studies at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCASS) before continuing into tertiary education, completing a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts with a major in Dance at Deakin University. She then went on to complete a postgraduate degree through Melbourne University and the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in ‘Classical Ballet Teaching and Pedagogy’. Renee is now a qualified teacher of the BC Training Program, a qualified VCE dance teacher, and the owner and director of En Pointe Studios, Kew, Vermont & Hawthorn.
Renee has had a vast array of performing experience, performing with the Queensland Ballet Company, the Australian Ballet School, and in the works of many prestigious independent choreographers. She has also travelled the globe with her students to teach and participate in many international events, including the BC 25th Anniversary Gala in the Philippines, the Bolshoi summer intensives in New York City, the Youth American Grand Prix, and many more.
Renee is delighted to continue her teaching and business journey, now embarking on her newest venture in the adult dance space. She is very much enjoying working with those new to the art form and helping them to discover the joy of dance and movement and sharing her passion with this community.
Classes For All
Learn the basic posture, technique, positions, and fundamentals of classical ballet. Link simple steps together in an array of combinations and exercises that will allow you to start on your journey in discovering the joy of ballet and movement.
You already know what a Plié, Tendu, Fondu, and Grand Battement is. Maybe you danced as a child and are now looking to rekindle your love for dance. More complex exercises at a faster pace for those who have had prior training or approximately 5 – 6 months of adult ballet classes.
A traditional Mat Pilates method class to strengthen and tone your body. Improve overall health, fitness and feel that “Pilates burn” Utilise Pilates equipment such as free weights, resistance bands, balls, and the magic circle ring.
A typical work out that many professional dancers take each day to improve on strength and flexibility. With a focus on exercises that increase mobility, improve posture, and that specifically assist with the flexibility and muscles groups that classical ballerinas and dancers require.
Experience the freedom of Contemporary dance movement in a lyrical style class. Lessons begin with a short warm up followed by learning new choreography each week. Tap into your more artistic and emotional side and bring your individuality to every class.

A 1 on 1 experience like no other. Enjoy a 45-minute lesson that is completely individualised to your personal needs. Work on things specific to your own dance journey, where we can focus on improving specific steps, technical goals, and overall development to fast track your personal progress.

FAQs
You can wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. Please don’t feel obliged to wear a leotard and tights, but of course you can if you want to! We suggest active wear that you would wear to a regular gym or workout class. Feel free to wear socks for your 1st dance class. If you find that you are enjoying it and will be coming again soon you can purchase ‘Canvas Ballet Flats’ from your local dance store for ballet classes. Sneakers are perfect for commercial Jazz, and bare feet or socks for Pilates, Body Conditioning/Stretch and Contemporary dance.
Refunds can me made via your confirmation email; They will be processed as soon as possible. Refunds can only be issued for classes cancelled with a minimum of 24 hours notice.
1 – 2 hour parking is available along the street on Glenferrie rd. There are also plenty of public transport options as we are very close to the Glenferrie train station and tram stops.
